Black, Blue, or Snowy Screen
  1. Is your receiver powered on?
  2. Make sure the satellite receiver (aka set-top box), TV, and any home theatre equipment are plugged in and powered on.

  3. Are your cable connections secured?
  4. Check to make sure all cables to the receiver and TV are connected securely.

  5. Check your channel/input:
  6. If TV1 (the TV that has a DISH receiver in the same room) is having the problem, try changing the TV channel to 3 or 4 using your TV remote. If problem is fixed, press the "SAT" button on your DISH remote. This button needs to be pressed to change your DISH Network channels and not your TV channels.

If that does not work, try changing your input/source on your TV. Using your TV or your TV remote, press the button that changes the input or source on the TV (this is the button that allows you to switch from DISH programming to your DVD player, for example). Cycle through the inputs/sources until you see DISH programming. If problem is fixed, press the "SAT" button on your DISH remote.

If TV2 (the TV that does not have a DISH receiver in the same room) is having the problem, try changing the TV channel to 60 or 73 using your TV remote. If problem is fixed, press the "SAT" button on your DISH remote. This is the button that needs to be pressed to change your DISH Network channels and not your TV channels. To avoid getting off channel in the future, make sure that you press the "SAT" button each time you want to watch DISH programming.

If that does not work, try checking the modulator settings on your DISH receiver. Go to the room where TV1 is located. Turn on TV1. Using your DISH remote, select "Menu," then press numbers 6, 1, and 5. This takes you to the modulator screen. Write down the channel number listed below the line "TV 2 Out." Walk back to TV2, and, using your TV remote, change the TV channel to the number you wrote down from the modulator screen. If problem is fixed, press the "SAT" button on your DISH remote.

If still not working, go back to TV1 and return to the modulator screen. Using your DISH remote, select "Menu," then press numbers 6, 1, and 5. Change the "TV 2 Out" mode setting from "Air" to "Cable" or "Cable" to "Air" on the modulator screen. Write down the new channel number listed below the line "TV 2 Out." Walk back to TV2, and, using your TV remote, change the TV channel to the new number you wrote down from the modulator screen. If problem is fixed, press the "SAT" button on your DISH remote.

PLEASE DO NOT CHANGE "TV1 Out" SETTINGS IN THE MODULATOR SCREEN.

Channel Info Not Available
  1. Is the receiver powered off at night?
  2. The Electronic Program Guide updates each night with channel and program information. By turning the receiver off each night, it can retrieve and download program information to be readily available for you when watching TV.

  3. Verify Inactivity Standby:
  4. If there is no activity on the receiver for approximately four hours, i.e. no remote/front panel commands etc., an alert on the screen will prompt to go into a standby mode with a screen saver or to continue watching the program. This will let the program information refresh and is a good maintenance tool for those who do not turn off their receiver on a nightly basis.

Menu - Preferences - Inactivity Standby

  6. Power off the receiver and unplug it from the electrical outlet. Wait 15 seconds, plug the receiver back into the electrical outlet, and power the receiver on. Following any program update downloads, check to see if you can access the missing program information now.
